Birth of a Nation by Aaron Mcgruder

Lets get right to the point. Aaron Mcgruder is definitely the voice for a generation of black people that have to get their priorities in order. He is picking up the voice that Kevin Powell started years ago from the real world and various insightful editorials in various hip hop magazines. If you haven't heard of Aaron Mcgruder then you should detour here to get educated. It is pure genius at the way Aaron Mcgruder gets across his message. I am just trying to figure out whether his artistice expression is talent or skill. His latest work Birth of A Nation is a perfect blend of everything for all ages. The premise of the book is what would happen if East St. Louis(the inner city without an inner city) seceded from the United States and become its own independent nation. That alone is subject to thought provoking discussions and maybe even heated debates. However, after reading this great comic novel reading and talking about the book will make you laugh every minute while making realize a whole lot. I don't know what is funny the habits that black people as whole have adopted and fit into as stereotypes or the piercing way that the author chose to expose the tight noose that Europeans hold on black people in America. Before reading this book I highly suggest that you grab other works published by this author especially A Right To Be Hostile. After reading his previous works reading the jabbing sarcasm and blatant humor in Birth of a Nation will crack you up a whole lot more. It is something about watching black folks choosing there own flag to watching the neighborhood crime lord take over the miliary powers for black people does something to my funny bone that no sitcom can ever do. Although it is highly recommended, it doesn't matter if you read Aaron Mcgruders earlier work or not(even though it would make sense) Birth of a Nation is a must grab for people of all races and ages and it is definitely the one I prefer more so then the one that was put out decades ago which was past racist and narrow minded. Oh yeah just to really beat it in your head how good this book and how talented this author is check out Aaron Mcgruder in your local newspaper under the comic strip section. Also here is a little preview from someone that has reviewed the book way before anyone I have seen online. Click here.
